Yesterday, Engelman Berger attorney, Meaghan Kramer, gave a presentation on Employee Handbook Tips to the human resources professionals at Fahrenheit Advisors. As the way we work and our laws change, it is important for companies to keep their employee handbooks up to date. In this educational presentation, Meaghan touched on five common mistakes that firms should be aware of related to progressive discipline, timekeeping for non-exempt employees, social media, #metoo issues, and drug testing. She also outlined some more obvious mistakes that companies should look out for, including out of date policies, overpromising, and unsigned acknowledgements.
Engelman Berger encourages companies to take the time to review their employee handbooks at the start of each year. If anyone would like help in doing so, please reach out to Meaghan at email@example.com.
