Litigation Legal Assistant

Engelman Berger is looking to hire a motivated, experienced, and organized Litigation Legal Assistant (LA) to join our 15 lawyer mid-town firm. This LA will be an integral part of our legal support team, often working on all phases of a matter from beginning to resolution.
We are seeking a highly organized individual who thrives on developing and utilizing a strong system for prioritizing and completing all responsibilities in a proactive nature. A strong candidate will demonstrate an understanding of complex business-related legal documents and support document management in a paper-light environment. We need someone who is self-motivated, with a good understanding of the litigation and bankruptcy process, court electronic filing procedures and has excellent proofreading skills.
Responsibilities will include drafting, proofreading, verifying, and editing a wide variety of legal documents and other written material including pleadings, client correspondence and docketing deadlines. This position requires a very proactive approach to managing a team of attorneys and interacting with other staff, clients and officials at the courthouse, while maintaining a professional and client service oriented demeanor. This candidate must be engaged in the current use and development of technology and have substantial experience in programs such as Word, Adobe, and general document management programs. Depending on experience, this position may also include or evolve into including some paralegal duties.
A minimum of 3 years of law firm experience in litigation is required. Specific litigation practice areas to include Commercial, Banking and Finance, Bankruptcy, and Creditor/Debtor Rights. Appellate or Water law experience is a bonus.
